Toluca Lake CEREC Dentist Explains The Steps Associated With Receiving CEREC Crowns

Written by Dr. McKay on Jul 19, 2016

Our Toluca Lake dentists are always integrating new technology into our practice in order to improve our patients’ dental experiences. One technology that been beneficial for a number of our patients is CEREC. Today we are giving you some useful information about the CEREC crowns.

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This technology allows our team to create your dental crown in our office, during your appointment. As you would imagine, this is much more convenient than having to wait for your crown to be crafted in an off-site lab.

So, let’s say that you come to our office with an existing infection or dental damage, what happens next?

· Our dental team will remove the infected or damaged dental material from the affected tooth

· We will then prep the tooth for your crown—this may involve shaping your enamel to ensure a good fit

· Then, we will take an impression of the relevant tooth

· We input the data from your impression into the CEREC machine

· This machine goes to work milling your crown from appropriately shaded ceramic

· When the crown is complete our team fits it on your tooth to make sure that it looks and feels natural

· The final step is to bond the crown to your natural tooth, so that you can get back into your normal daily routine

This entire process happens in just one dental appointment—you never even leave the office. When you choose CEREC crowns, you don’t have to schedule multiple appointments, or wear an annoying temporary crown.
