Toluca Lake Relaxation Dentist Puts Patients At Ease With Modern Sedation Treatment

Sedation dentistry can help people with dental anxiety get preventive and restorative dental treatments in a timely and stress-free manner. Our Toluca Lake sedation dentists have seen how detrimental long-term dental anxiety can be; so many people who suffer with this type of anxiety put off dental care and then end up having to deal with more severe, painful, and expensive dental issues in the future.

We know that it can seem overwhelming to battle through dental anxiety, which is why our dental team offers sedation treatment options to help people stay calm and comfortable in the dentist’s chair.

Nitrous oxide treatment, which is also called “laughing gas,” is a sedation option that is administered in-office. As you sit in the dentist’s chair, directly before your appointment begins, you’ll breathe in nitrous oxide through a face mask. You’ll start to feel loose, calm, and even a little giggly. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly and naturally post-treatment.

Another relaxation option is called oral conscious sedation. This treatment is unique because it actually starts working before you even get to our office. About an hour before your appointment you will take a small sedative pill; this pill makes you feel calm and untroubled. Oral conscious sedation is a great option for people who suffer from severe dental anxiety and have trouble even making to their appointments due to stress.

The most powerful form of sedation used in dentistry is intravenous (IV) sedation. When you use IV sedation you will actually be unconscious during treatment, thus continually monitored by a member of your dental team. IV sedation is generally reserved for cases in which the patient is undergoing extensive and invasive restorative dentistry treatments.

Our Toluca Lake sedation dentists are here to give you all of the information and support that you need to conquer dental anxiety. Schedule a consultation with our team by calling our office or reach us through the Contact Us page on our website.
