CEREC technology has been revolutionary in the world of restorative dentistry. It is now easier than ever before to get the dental restoration that you need to regain a healthy smile after infection or dental trauma.

In today’s article our Toluca Lake CEREC dentists are going to walk you through the process receiving one of these crowns. We hope that you find this information helpful, and, as always, you can reach out to our dental team if you have additional questions!

Dental crowns become necessary when part of a tooth has been damaged, and consequently removed, due to a cavity or dental fracture. It used to be that patients had to wear temporary crowns while they waited for their permanent crowns to be crafted in an-offsite lab. Now, however, our dentist uses CEREC technology to create your crown right here in our office.

Once our dental team has removed the infected and damaged material from your tooth, we will prep your tooth for restorative treatment; this may involve our dentist shaping your enamel so that a crown can fit comfortably on top Then, we will take a digital impression of the relevant tooth—this is the raw data that allow us to create a customized crown to meet your needs.

Our dentist inputs this information into the CEREC machine, so that it can start milling your ceramic crown. We are able to match the ceramic we use to your existing smile.

When the crown is completed, our dentist places it on your tooth ensure that it is a good fit and that it looks natural. At this point we may refine the crown if necessary. Finally, we bond the crown to your natural tooth, so that it looks natural and functions optimally.

This entire process is completed in just one dental appointment. Thanks to CEREC technology you don’t have to wait to get the high-quality restorative dental care that you need.

Our Toluca Lake dentists are here to provide you with any additional information that you may need about restorative dentistry options. Give us a call to get started!
