Sometimes, despite our best efforts, dental damage rears its ugly head. Maybe you damage a tooth in an accident, or notice that a small cavity is getting out of control. No matter what the specific situation, our Toluca Lake dentists are here to help you with state-of-the-art restorative dentistry.

Because we understand that dealing with dental damage is downright stressful, we’re always looking for ways to make treatment more convenient and comfortable for our patients. One way that we’ve improved the treatment experience for restorative dentistry patients is by providing CEREC crowns. Keep reading to learn more!

What are CEREC Crowns?

“CEREC” refers to the way that the restoration is constructed; it stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic.” Traditionally, dental crowns were crafted in an off-site lab, after the patient’s initial dental appointment. In order to complete treatment, the patient would actually need to come into the office multiple times. CEREC technology—software as well as the milling machine—allows our team to design, create, and place your crown right here in our office, in just one appointment.

What is it like to get a CEREC Crown?

When you come in for your appointment, our team will assess your damaged tooth, and remove any infected or dead material. Once your tooth is prepped, we’ll take an impression of the tooth, and input this data into the CEREC machine. The restoration is completed while you’re in the dentist’s chair, and we’re able to fit it and bond it in place immediately.

People choose to use CEREC crowns for a number of reasons, including:

Efficiency—get your crown in just one day

Customizability—every aspect of your restoration will be designed to fit your smile. This means that the crown will be shaded, sized, and shaped to look like your natural teeth. The aesthetic result will blend seamlessly with your existing smile.

Continuity of Care—our dentist will oversee every aspect of your crown creation and placement. We’re here to ensure that every aspect of your restoration is refined and optimized.

Our team has found that CEREC technology delivers exceptional results, while improving the patient’s treatment experience. If you want to learn more about any restorative dental treatments, including crowns, please reach out to our Toluca Lake CEREC dentists.
