Toluca Lake Dentist Shares Information To Review With Your Dentist

Written by Dr. McKay on Aug 16, 2022

Our Toluca Lake dentists encourage our patients to ask questions in the dentist’s chair—the more you know, the more empowered you’ll be to take control of your oral health! Today we’re going to be reviewing a few topics you may want to cover with your team.

Toothbrush Bristles

Using the right toothbrush is imperative to maintaining a healthy and strong smile. You may have noticed that there are a number of different types of toothbrush bristles on the market today—they range from “soft” all the way to “extra firm.” Talk to your dental team about which type of bristle is right for your smile—the answer may surprise you!

Semi-annual Appointments

Your dental team can also help you set an appropriate schedule for preventive dental cleanings and assessments. The general recommendation from the ADA is that patients complete these appointments every six months or so. However, people with ongoing dental problems or whole-body health issues, like diabetes, for example, may require more than two appointments a year.

Bruxism

Let your dentist know if you have noticed any of the telltale signs of bruxism in your daily (or nightly) life. Bruxism (chronic dental grinding) can damage your teeth over time. If you have jaw soreness, tooth pain, headaches, stiff neck, or dry mouth at night, bring these concerns up with your dental team. They can then complete a bruxism assessment.

Even if it has been years since you’ve been in to see your dentist, our Toluca Lake dentists are here to help you reach your dental goals. Give our team a call, or use the Contact Us page on our website to get started!
