Many dental patients are choosing to use Invisalign rather than dealing with traditional metal braces. You have probably heard about some of the benefits of Invisalign, but what is it like to actually go through the Invisalign treatment process? Our Toluca Lake cosmetic dentists are here to tell you!
It all starts when you come in for your cosmetic consultation. At this meeting you’ll tell us what you want to improve about your smile. You’ll also talk to us about your budget, timeline, and concerns/anxieties. From this meeting will be able to assess whether you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.
If Invisalign is right for you, the next step is to take a scan/mold of your smile. This is our starting point! The Invisalign company then proposes a series of aligner, which, over a number of months, will move your teeth into better positions. Our dental team will review this proposal with you, and show you what your smile will look like post-treatment. At this point if we want to make any tweaks to your treatment plan, we’ll work with Invisalign to perfect your plan.
Now treatment begins in earnest. Once you first aligner is ready in our office, you’ll come in for a fitting. We’ll pop in your aligner, make sure that it fits well, and then set up a follow-up appointment. For the duration of your treatment you will wear your aligner as much as possible—day and night. You’ll take your aligners out to eat, drink, and clean your smile. You’ll also receive a new aligner every two to three weeks, so that your smile will continue to progress.
When you reach your final aligner, you’ll meet with our dental team to ensure that you are happy with the results. Once your smile is just how you want it, we’ll provide you with a final retainer, which you will wear at night. This retainer helps to prevent your smile from shifting post-treatment.
It’s just that easy! Invisalign makes it simple for people to achieve their dream smiles without unsightly and uncomfortable metal braces. Please call our Toluca Lake cosmetic dentists to learn more or to schedule an Invisalign consultation.
